5 Clubs That Could Sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the greatest players of his generation, and probably the most influential athlete on the planet. His explosive interview with Piers Morgan brought the curtain down on his Manchester United career, but the Portuguese striker is far from done with football yet. With the 700-goal-scoring striker coming into the World Cup a free agent, teams will be pooling together their pennies to see if they can afford one of the all-time greats. Check out SinkorSwimSports as we run you through the latest Cristiano Ronaldo next club odds!

Chelsea 16/2

Chelsea have got a serious problem when it comes to strikers, haven’t they? Ever since the sale of Diego Costa in 2017, the Blues have gone through the likes of Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner, and Romelu Lukaku, and their present arsenal of Kai Havertz, Armando Broja, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hasn’t proven to be the answer to these woes yet either.

Graham Potter’s (a manager known for having a hard time putting the ball in the back of the net) men have only scored 17 times in the Premier League this season. For context, Arsenal have scored 33 goals, whereas Man City are already up to 40. A statement marquee signing like Ronaldo would be so typical of Todd Bohely, but it certainly would help sure up some of the finishing woes Chelsea have had this season.

Sporting Lisbon 16/2

The last romantic return worked out so well for Ronaldo, why not do another one? Sporting Lisbon were the club that gave Cristiano Ronaldo after rising through the youth ranks in 2002, and a return to Portugal has always followed the Portuguese talisman throughout his career.

Rúben Amorim’s men finished 2nd in the Primeira Liga last season but closed out the first half of the 2022/23 season down in 4th. They do have some exciting talents in their ranks, however, namely Marcus Edwards who dazzled against Spurs in the Champions League this season. Despite sitting second in our Cristiano Ronaldo next club odds, this looks more like a move that would be out of pure love, rather than the sort of steely ambition the Portuguese striker has shown previously.

Any MLS Club 15/2

Ever since the acquisition of David Beckham in 2007, the MLS has garnered a pretty infamous reputation for being the retirement home of superstars. Javier Hernandez, Lorenzo Insigne, Federico Bernadeschi, Giorgio Chiellini, and Gareth Bale all call the MLS their home currently, but the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo really would be the biggest statement yet.

As Ronaldo’s age has gone up, so have the rumors circulating around him and a move to North America. The 2023 MLS season kicks off in January, so it would make for a fitting time to arrive in the wake of the World Cup. Still, Ronaldo has always claimed to want to continue competing on the biggest stage so it might take a pretty lucrative offer to lure him Stateside.

Newcastle 15/2

When Newcastle United finally got their big takeover in 2021, many people expected them to be challenging for the Premier League top four. It’s a testament to the job Eddie Howe’s done that the Toon have already started that process, without any real star signings yet.

Miguel Almiron might be making a one-man run to the Ballon d’Or this season, but the lure of coaxing in a player like Ronaldo might just be too tantalizing an opportunity to turn down for the Toon.

Napoli 16/1

Finally, the last team in the running in our Cristiano Ronaldo next club odds is a wildcard in Napoli. Coached by the highly experienced by slightly mad Luciano Spalletti, Napoli plays an aggressive and high-intensity brand of football designed for being on the front foot. The side have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League and sits a hefty 8 points clear at the summit of Serie A, having not lost all season.

Elsewhere across Italy, Jose Mourinho’s Roma side has been touted as a possible destination for the veteran forward, having worked together previously at Real Madrid. PSG’s wealth and history have also seen them listed as a potential buyer, but quite how Ronaldo will slot in around Mbappe, Messi, and Neymar make us think this is safe to rule out.
