According to MLSstore.com, the top-selling MLS jersey in 2022 belongs to LAFC’s Gareth Bale. The Welsh winger only arrived in Los Angeles at the end of June, so his rapid rise up the charts here is a testament to just how big a moment this transfer has been for Major League Soccer.
Behind him, former Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs has proven to be Charlotte’s most popular player sitting in 2nd, whilst Carlos Vela has proven to be one of the MLS’ most marketable athletes again in 3rd. Fellow forwards Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez and Josef Martinez round out the top five highest-selling MLS jerseys.
Seattle Sounders’ historic 2022 CONCACAF Champions League win has contributed to the side appearing the most in the top 25 jerseys sold this year, with four players represented in total.
Despite this being their first season in Major League Soccer, Charlotte have two players in the top 25 jerseys sold.
Finally, 2022 has set the record for the most clubs represented in the top selling MLS jerseys, with fifteen clubs present reflecting the division’s increasingly widespread popularity.
