Major League Soccer has seen rapid expansion and growth over the past few years, growing to encompass 28 teams across the division’s two Conferences. Investment in grassroots academies, infrastructure, and commercial interests has seen the league’s status grow not just in North America, but across the pond in Europe as well. With the average valuation of a franchise side rising to $550 million in 2021 (up from $240 million in 2018), investing in one of the US’ fastest-growing entities has become increasingly commonplace. Check out SinkorSwimSports as we run you through who the MLS 2022 sponsors are this year.
Most Valuable MLS Franchises
‘Expansion’ was the word on the Major League Soccer street coming into the 2022 season, with Charlotte FC becoming the 28th franchise in the division. With St Louis set to join in 2023 and plans for a Las Vegas-based org in the coming years, the valuations attached to the league’s teams have continued to shoot upwards.
LAFC still hold the highest MLS franchise value in 2022 worth $860 million. Real Salt Lake’s $400 million acquisition by David Blitzer and Ryan Smith earlier this year was also a glowing endorsement of investing in the division right now.
