Who Are The Highest-Rated MLS Players In Fifa 23?

Fifa 23 launched back at the end of September and instantly made a splash with soccer fans around the globe. The game sold over 14.4 million units in Europe alone during its opening month on the shelves, a rise of 6% compared to Fifa 22 last year. The final Fifa title before EA rebrand as ‘EA Sports FC’, Fifa 23 has also dominated the North American market, continuing to dominate the likes of Madden and NBA 2K3. With so many US soccer fans invested in the franchise for another year, join us at SinkorSwimSports as we look at the highest-rated MLS player in Fifa 23.

Carles Gil (New England Revolution) – 80 OVR

2021 Landon Donovan MVP award winner Carles Gil opens up our list with a very tidy 80 overall rating. The 30-year-old New England Revolution talisman made 33 appearances in the MLS during the 2022 season, scoring 7 and assisting 9 in a strong showing for an underwhelming Revs side.

In Fifa 22, Gil came with a 77 overall base card but was awarded a 95 Team of the Season card during the game’s lifetime. In Fifa 23, the Spaniard’s base card has been upgraded to an 80 OVR, with a handy 81 passing and 80 dribbling.

Hector Herrera (Houston Dynamo) – 80 OVR

Hector Herrera has a legendary reputation with certain Fifa players for being one of the most versatile budget options in Ultimate Team across numerous editions. After spending nearly a decade in Portugal with Porto, Herrera moved to Atletico Madrid in 2019 before his shock move to Texas with the Houston Dynamo in a pre-contract agreement in March 2022.

The Mexican’s base card is 80 overall, however, he’s already been given two special upgrades for the World Cup and Rulebreakers promo rated 81 and 84 respectively.

Carlos Vela (Los Angeles Football Club) – 81 OVR

Long regarded as one of the best players in the division, Carlos Vela just misses out on the top three of the highest-rated Fifa 23 MLS players. The Mexican enjoyed a solid return to form for LAFC in 2022, bagging 12 goals and 9 assists in just 32 matches for Steve Cherundolo’s side.

His 81 base card comes with 83 dribbling and 79 shooting, making him a versatile option for being deployed anywhere across a player’s frontline. The Mexican has also already bagged himself an in-form in Fifa 23, taking his rating up to 84 overall.

Gareth Bale (Los Angeles Football Club) – 81 OVR

Arguably the biggest signing in MLS history, Gareth Bale’s move to LAFC in June 2022 broke football headlines everywhere. Whilst his opportunities at Real Madrid had become limited, his quality as a five-time Champions League was beyond question.

With the Welshman eager to put more minutes on the pitch, his Fifa 22 rating of 82 has been downgraded to 81 for the year, though it is still enough to see him make our top three highest-rated MLS players. However, Bale also has a World Cup Player and World Cup Stories promo card to his name, taking his rating up to 82 and 91 overall.

Lorenzo Insigne (Toronto FC) – 84 OVR

Another high-profile MLS acquisition, Lorenzo Insigne established himself as one of Europe’s best attacking players during his twelve-year stint with Serie A side Napoli. Fast, nimble, and blessed with a thunderous shot, Insigne swapped Naples for Toronto in January 2022, making 11 appearances, scoring 6 goals, and assisting 2.

The 31-year-old Italian comes into Fifa 23 with an exciting-looking 84-rated base card. The 84 pace, passing and 89 dribbling are the high points with Insigne’s Fifa 23 card, and the Toronto winger has also got an 87-rated LW Rulebreakers upgrade players can pick up.

Giorgio Chiellini (Los Angeles Football Club) – 84 OVR

Giorgio Chiellini joined Juventus from Roma in 2004 as a 20-year-old and would go on to make 561 appearances and win nine consecutive league titles with I Bianconeri. The Italian veteran announced he would be signing for LAFC in June 2022 and would help the Black and Gold lift the 2022 Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup by the end of the season.

83 Physical and 85 defending are the two major stats Fifa 23 players will be looking at when it comes to Chiellini’s 84-rated card in the game. He also has the ‘lengthy’ pace type, which has been shown to be especially powerful with certain defenders.

Not bad for a 38-year-old.Â
